I also often check the turn. Potcontrol, the board is pretty dry.

I bet ~3/4 pot on river. As played, I call.

At 10NL i'm usually just straight valuebetting every street here.

Since you checked turn i think you have to call, given that you under- repped your hand somewhat.

Dry board may be right, but if you consider preflop call, I would only put him on a middle PP or AK-AJ. You could exclude setting a flop after checking the turn. So after his raise on the river, I put him in the range AQ or even QQ. But QQ may be exluded as well, because he checked the turn - and shouldn`t.

As played it is an easy call. And you should have betted - not called ;-) turn...

valuebet this all the way... call river. The preflop raise seems a little bit bigger than the usual. But as long as there's no telling the strength of your hand by the size of your bets it's ok....

I thought the turn might be a small mistake. I tend to exercise pot control a little too often I think.

FWIW if the flop contained two spades would that be a proper time to check the spade turn?

Not with the big raise you've made preflop, I'm betting my hand for value and not even thinking until he makes a substantial move.
