I would like to make a proposal to the various rooms in and around the Tampa area.

Provide a freeroll tourney for logging a certain amount of hours for the week/month. I know this is probably a pipe dream, but I'm hoping a little competition with these pokerrooms is in the cards(no pun intended), if not with freerolls, with some other avenues(including but not limited to free gifts, free food and drinks, lower rakes, and better tourney structures).

[/ QUOTE ]

This day will come for all FL poker rooms. Believe me, the competition is going to get steep.

OP is a known troll. Ignore him. His "news" has no basis in fact.

WTF is your problem?

People here get all wild and orgasmic everytime someone stars a rumor that the poker landscape in Florida is going to change. I disbunk those rumors and because of that I'm a known pessimist who never says a positive word about anything?

OK. Hows this? The nephew of a guy who lives next door to a girl I work with says Donald Trump is going to build a big honking casino on Hollywood Beach and they're going to let him have blackjack and high-stakes poker and anything he wants. I can't wait.

Optimistic enough for you?

Just piss off.

I'd love to see this happen. But if I were betting on it, I'd give 10:1 that this bill just dies under a pile of other ones this week.

The House has a week to pass it. There seems to be some doubt that that's going to happen.

What this is talking about are those craptastic machines like they now have in the Seminole casinos, a step down from the Class 3 slots that have recently made an appearance.

Not sure how you interpreted poker and bj out of this.

I can't wait to see you in the casinos come July 1, fishy! I'll gladly accept your apology in person at this time. I'm sure others will be glad to join me. Shall we all just form a receiving line so you can get it over with in one shot?

I've been following this news, because I live down in Naples FL. I called my local dog track and they had no specific information about what they were planning.

But, given the past experience I expect that it will still be a pretty terrible setup. They aren't interested in providing the customer with competative rates, heck they don't really have any compitition and they are full up every day.

Right now the Naples/Ft. Myers Greyhound Track only runs $45 MTT and STT. In both cases the fee they take for entry is $14 if I remember correctly (I haven't played in a while, maybe it's $13). Thats like a $31 + $14, 45% fee?

The STT don't even pay out top 3 because the rake is so high, it's just top 2 places out of 10 players. I've never played in any of those. MTT pay out top 9 out of 180-200 players. I got just under $2000 for the one MTT I won, which is ok but with 100/200 starting blinds and 4k in chips the 200 player tournament was over in less than 5 hours. Needless to say I got fairly lucky.

Cash games have always been 10% up to $5. I doubt that will change, unless it becomes a time charge, but I imagine that the tournaments will be just as crappy as they are now. I can't imagine playing a MTT at $300 + $135.

The MTTs have always been 32+13 which everyone with a brain knows is a ridiculous ripoff. I played in one donk-n-go to see what it was like and it was just an all-in fest from the get go. I can't imagine the cardrooms are dumb enough to try and continue their 30% vig on higher buy-ins, and if they do, we all need to raise hell.

The Hard Rock in Tampa already provides tourneys with only a 10% rake...........and there structures are better also, but certainly not that of tourneys played outside the state of Florida.

Tampa Greyhound, Derby Lane, Tampa Downs, Sarasota Kennel, and the Hard Rock hopefully in time will provide incentives over their counterparts in one way or another.

Would a 45$ tournament with 13$ taken out for fee's be considered a 29% fee out of the 45$ or would it be considered a 40% fee on top of the 32$?

I always think of a tourny buy in as $buy-in + $fee, so seems like 40% to me.

LOL. You're probably not going to see me very much in the casinos. They'll still be crap, even with the higher stakes.

The Management at Naples dog track has got to be the worst in the State. They probably havent even thought about the new bill yet. The Seminole Casino in Immokalee is also horrible. They charge big rakes and huge money for beer. Its like 9 bucks for a 16 oz heiniken.
