Default NL25: Can i call this river bet with 77?

Villain is a fish I have on my buddy list that I joined the table to get, and managed to get position on him. He is 42/9/1.7

My notes say to beware small donk/calls and c/r. As they are usually a draw (Flush/oesd) or a made 2pair/set. Can I (should I) call this river? The turn check made me lean towards 78s or possibly 9x (less likely). The 5 on the river is not a card I wanted to see however, nor the half pot 'value bet'

If your read is accurate he either has 78 or a set, and since you already have 77 his 78 becomes a bit less likely. Honestly if you trust your read you can just fold to the c/minraise. His turn check is interesting though... unless he's the type to slowplay (badly) a set.

On the river the obvious draw came in so I don't think you can call this, as your behind to a set or now a straight.

If your notes are accurate, he either has 2p/set or 87 that got there.

This could be either 87 which is less likely b/c you hold 2 of the 7s, or a TPTK hand that is scared of the Q on the turn.

FWIW, I don't think I call this bet unless my notes say "Bluffs river w/ nothing frequently".

bet the turn man. If you dont bet the turn you cant even consider calling this after the one hand you beat got there.

Bet the turn to get value from his draw or jus c/f the rest of the hand.
