Default NL2/4 Getting resqueezed

Party Poker, $2/$4 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter

Hero (BB): $620.50
UTG: $477.35
MP: $428.60
CO: $236.90
BTN: $451.75
SB: $337.65

Pre-Flop: T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (BB)
3 folds, BTN raises to $16, SB calls $14, Hero raises to $72, BTN raises to $196, SB folds

Well...quite common situation, as usual I´m having some troubles with it
Villain was farily aggro, running at 22/19/3, probably viewed me as a standard TAG at 21/18. Barely any history between us, though there were the occasional squeezes/3-bets. The SB was some random fish fwiw.

Your standard play here?

What hands is he 4-betting for value? Calculate your EV against that range and calculate how often villain needs to be bluffing to make a shove profitable.

Probably a shove is the right answer.

Villain has {AK, JJ+} like always and a VERY small portion of bluffs. You need a solid amount of metagame for him to have air here, and some players will never. Do the math, count combos of pairs JJ and higher and AK, compute your equity. I think it will be a fold.

If however he is capable of having AQ type hands and air here now and then, I think a shove is slightly profitable (haven't done any math though)

eh, i just fold here a lot. i genuinely think 2+2ers often think too much on a level beyond what's necessary against semi-unknown opponents. like putting a guy on a resqueeze because "he must think i'm squeezing" and then chalking it up to a cooler when he actually has what he's representing. i'd need the right image or more history with villain to shove here, and you said you have barely any with him

Laetus,

"What hands is he 4-betting for value? Calculate your EV against that range and calculate how often villain needs to be bluffing to make a shove profitable.

$282 in pot
He got $255 left.
Costs you $379 to shove.
You a most likely 2-1 dog versus his range (AK,JJ+). If you throw AQ in, it becomes 60-40 and more reasonable....but is AQ reasonable given stacks?

I totally agree with this. I don't know why, but a fair amount of advice on this forum just doesn't seem to correlate with the games I play in. Vast majority of regulars simply have what they're representing virtually all the time in my experience.

I think you have to fold. At best you are a flip.

When I read peoples replies in threads like these I sometimes think people just make up the worst possible range for villan and stop there.

Is villain really 4-betting for value and happily calling a shove with JJ here? When you all wanna fold TT? I think he is 4-betting for value with AK/AA/KK like always, and much more likely to call QQ/JJ. Sure if the meta is there he can probably happily 4-bet call with QQ often and maybe even JJ, but I think his hand is usually AA/KK/AK/bluff. Which is obviously a much better range for our hand.

You have about 40% equity vs AA/KK/AK, does he bluff enough to make the call? If he really does 4-bet JJ for value here then our equity vs his non bluffing range is only 33% though, so we need him to be bluffing a lot.
