Default Seat change questions

Player A has a seat change button in the big blind. Player B busts and Player C is called to the game. Player A indicates he wants the seat vacated by Player B. Does Player A have to move immediately or does he get to play through his button and hold Player C out of the game for 2 hands?

Second question. In a must move chain, if Player A gets to play his button, should the brush make sure that no player in the main game wants the vacant seat before pulling Player C out of his seat in the must move and making him stand around for 2 hands he could otherwise be playing?

Most places allow a player moving seats to play off button. Note that in a must move situation player C coming from the must move game is allowed free hands without posting blinds. If player A plays button then player C is coming in behind the button which is his optimum position.

Normally if called from a must move game you are alklowed no more hands except the blinds and bitton if you want them, you are then allowed to come into the new game without posting either immediately or behind button if you wish to wait. You always get the best of it.

In my room if there is a player ready to take the vacant seat and you want the seat you must move immediately - the exception being that if your seat is in such a spot that the new player would be unable to take a hand in the seat you can play out the hands.

In the case you give if Player A gets up and moves now the new player could sit in player A's seat and take the Big Blind. As such Player A should move immediately, but often times here the player will not object to Player A staying since the new Player prefers to come in after the button anyway.

Yeah, 'round Vegas it seems pretty typical that if someone is waiting for the seat, the person asking for the seat change does not get to wait. Either move now, or let the new player sit. The exception typically being as PS stated--new player can't come in as the SB or button, so a player who just played the BB can stay seated for a hand or two. It's completely unreasonable to ask a new player to stand and watch for 6 or 7 hands while someone plays an entire round.

One slight correction - in most must move games I have played, you are not allowed to wait until the button has passed you if you don't want to pay the blind. If you are forced to move to the main game, and the empty seat just happens to be the BB for the next hand, you have to pay.

At CAZ you are allowed to do just that...you can wait until the button passes to take advantage of position( for free).

The only position you can CANT wait to play is if you come in to the cutoff seat( right behind the button).

I have seen this, but normally you cannot take any more hands in the must move game, but then when you get to the main game you can let the button pass if you want.

The sneaky thing to do is to just kind of look at the table before you are too close, and if you see the empty seat is about to be the big blind, just take a little extra time getting there.

Where I normally play either a brush or the floor brings over a rack, picks up your chips then moves them. I prefer this since I am normally one of the originators in the main game and consider the "slow movers" to be angle shooters.

Can't you just say you're going to come in after the button?
