Mom got me what I wanted, She is coming to visit in December. Mostly I'll get cards or phone calls. not a big present family.

[/ QUOTE ]

fine then, I'll just return the gift I got you and give it to Kilgore.

Happy B-Day!

You obv never had a sunday roast or a traditional English breakfast.

[/ QUOTE ]
yes and no. love roast, not a breakfast fan.

I would have gone for the American contribution = Mcdonalds retort.

I'll go for a quote from the Long Good Friday, as said to an American: "We're looking for people who can contribute to what England has given the world: culture, genius, sophistication. Bit more than a hot dog, know what I mean? "

go to 2:25 on this:

It's pure gold.

(PS. This is entire end of the movie, so don't watch it past the point he leaves the room if you don't want to spoil a virgin viewing of this fantastic movie).

The brick-bashing, dentally-challenged Brit has a point - it's a great movie!

(I think it's just mess with DB day today)

It's like having to climb a mountain just because it's there -- the British stiff upper lip rep is a constant goad to see if you can poke about and muss up their composure.

On another subject, does anything else find this strange?

Black Sea Faces Oil "Catastrophe"

Specifically, this part:

[ QUOTE ]
The Russian tanker Volganeft-139, with more than 4,000 tons of fuel aboard, came apart after it was smashed by 108km/h (67 mph) winds and 5m (16ft) waves in the narrow Kerch Strait between Russia and Ukraine.

[/ QUOTE ]

I mean, those are pretty far from enormous winds, and 16 foot waves should be a walk in the park for a boat as big as an oil tanker. Seriously, did they make this boat out of papier mache or something? How are we going to avoid catastrophes if 16 foot waves and winds that are less than half of those of the most serious storms are taking out our oil tankers?

I think if we tell him that Mel Gibson's movie "The Patriot" was 100% fair and dead-on about the Brits, and that William Wallace was a patriot, we will get some involuntary sphinctre-clenching out of him.

Ya, that's horrible but as I am looking at this story about an oil spill this article catches my eye:
