Surley there were a bunch of draws out there, but were it the right way to push the flop?
What hand do you put him on here? A flush draw? straight draw? complete straight? two pair?

Thought that if I were not ahead I had good chances to make the best hand by pairing the board on other streets.

Would you have played it different?

Had a hard time putting him on a hand, in my op he could have anything here.

I would think you were ahead when the money went in but you were up against some combo draw with outs. I think betting to protect your hand looks fine.

Well played. Nice thing with shoving the set is that if one of the draws comes in, you have a redraw to improve. So much better to shove flop than to have to make a decision on this turn.

Because this is an incredibly wet flop, your initial c-bet should have been bigger, probably around full pot. Regardless of c-bet size, though, 3-betting all-in after his raise was definitely the right play. While QQ and KJ for the straight are in his range (possibly J8 as well; I'm not certain he calls with it preflop, though), he's also doing this with hands you beat such as AQ, QT, T9, QJ, and JT. He's fairly aggressive postflop given his VPIP, so he'll also be making this move with combo draws such as pair + flush draw and flush draw + jack for an OESD. You're ahead of his range here but there are a ton of turns you don't want to see, so getting it in on the flop seems best.

Neverscurred you are right, but I had the feeling that they would call this one down on me, when I saw the raise I thought shoveing it was the right thing to do. If they had just called it would have been a c/f I think.
