Re: 4 bet semi bluff vs. Esfandiari
After he says he folded JJ, you ask what color. If he says red, then you say BS because you had two Jacks, one black and one red.
Good play though. I'm surprised he would have risked so much of his stack if he was intended to fold to a shove. |

Re: 4 bet semi bluff vs. Esfandiari
He's one of the best in the world and he's got position on you and, only slightly now, more chips. I wouldn't be giving him any free information. Do you really expect this guy to be phased by the fact that a 'internet qualifier' repopped him and then showed?
Maybe I'm giving the guy too much respect but you have to respect his table position. Do you really think that you have a better situation the next time he floats or raises you because you show a bluff now? If the answer to those questions is yes, then nh, sir. |

Re: 4 bet semi bluff vs. Esfandiari
His table position to Hero's immediate left is an important factor, but not the only factor. This is a fairly full table not head up. Villain still has to think about players to his left in addition to Hero. Villain is just as capable of micro-tilting as anyone else. If Hero's action causes Villain to become frustrated in the table dynamic, then this is beneficial to almost everyone else at the table in the long run.
What Ansky did here has a lot more impact when both are in earlier position than when both are in later position. If you can take any player off his game for a portion of each orbit, then you have gained and he has lost. |

Re: 4 bet semi bluff vs. Esfandiari
I suppose this all depends on whether we think he had a pair of jacks or not. I don't think he raise-folds jacks there. Thus he wins if Ansky shows. He's going to expect any more than competent player to make a stand sooner or later. When he raised, he knew that Ansky would push or fold. As a bonus, he gets to see his opponents cards.

Re: 4 bet semi bluff vs. Esfandiari
Yeah, and if he's any good as a poker player, he's got a steel-trap memory. Might take several tourneys, might take a hundred. But you can be sure when he plays Ansky again, he's gonna remember both hands.

Yeah, this didn't feel like a good spot to show. I mucked and he went on thinking I had AA or some [censored].
