Most people don't realize how mean hippos are. Hippos kill more people in Africa every year than lions. The males are VERY territorial and aggressive if you get in their area.

People see them and think they are cute and cuddly looking and no threat.

If we hear about this thing killing somebody at some point it won't be a surprise.

They said they've had her for 7 years without the hippo displaying any aggression. I wouldn't be so concerned with it freaking out.

that doesn't mean anything. this has happened before with other animals. they grow up with humans and then one day something triggers their primal instincts and they go to town on the people.
