Pregnant and vegan
Sure, why not another vegetarian/vegan thread.
A coworkers wife was a strict vegetarian. She got herself knocked up. She originally was planning on keeping vegetarian through the pregnancy. Everyone convinced her otherwise. She ended up eating meat during the pregnancy. Now in the veggie threads the veggie group talks about how healthy the lifestyle is and I was wondering what their opinions were for during pregnancy and early development. (I'm convinced that dairy, meat, etc. are incredibly important during these times) Thoughts? |

Re: Vegan and pregnant
I think even the science that supports vegasnism says that you should not follow a vegan diet when pregnant.

Re: Pregnant and vegan
Just google it. There's tons of resources about being vegan and being pregnant. Nothing I've skimmed across expresses dangers in it as long as your responsible about it.

Re: Pregnant and vegan
Apparently I was wrong, according to wikipedia:
The American Dietetic Association and Dietitians of Canada state that "well-planned vegan and other types of vegetarian diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including during pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence."[3] |
