Also worth monitoring....

NE with 230 points through 6 games. On pace for 613+ points.

What is the record? I know the 98 Vikings had 556. The 00 Rams had 540. The 04 Colts had 522. Anyone else up there?

[/ QUOTE ]

as someone mentioned above, all it will take is a couple games in bad weather to slow that pace down.

those 3 teams all play their home games in domes, thats a big edge for scoring

Only Assani would think that a team ranking 21st in defensive DVOA entering the week counts as a quality defense.

Or that any QB is equal to Manning, when Manning has been first in DPAR for four years in a row, three of them by a mile.

we've been over this, DPAR should never be used as the sole piece of evidence for individual players. The Football Outsiders guys say the same.

kbz,

Did you happen to look at the DPAR numbers? Because if you did you would find that manning has performed quite well in comparison to the rest of the league.

No, your comment is a very poor cop-out. DPAR and DVOA are good enough statistics that when there is a giant discrepency, you can simply point to those and it's inarguable. You wouldn't use EqA as the sole unit of measurement for how good a baseball player is, but if Albert Pujols has a .333 EqA and David Eckstein has a .267 EqA, it's beyond obvious who is better and therefore nothing else is needed. Anything else is simply a cop out.

Triumph: I don't even know you but I get the feeling I'd be doing something wrong if you ever started to like me.

Brady is also starting to get into the top 50 of career all-time quarterbacks:

Completions 2,044 (TIED 46TH Theisman)
Passing TDs 168 (48th)
Yards 23,335 (about 1,900 yards short)

actually, you could use it as the only piece of evidence to determine who the better hitter is, and be correct.

(do you know that eqa just measures hitting, nothing else?)

and that is a giant difference between baseball analysis and football analysis. in baseball, a huge % of the game comes down to the confrontation between hitter and pitcher, which can be analyzed very effectively. there is nothing that simple to analyze in football, b/c your teammates have a far, far greater effect on your play than in baseball.

probably the worst thing about the advanced metrics is some peoples inability to understand them, but yet they use them as gospel in inappropriate situations.
