Oceans 11 spreads 2 1-3 nl 300 max games and 2 5-5 nl 1000 max games during the afternoon into the evening. Viejas spreads 2-3 1-3 300 max games and occasionally a 5-5 game. Sycuan usually gets a 5-10 1000 max game going by night.

good luck

The place I play a lot at is Chula Vista Card Club. They offer 8/16 LHE and O8b and a 5/10 NL game. The 5/10 NL is a joke, and it has 2k max buy in. I am moving to sanfran in a month...only reason iŽd broadcast this game to others.

edit: oh yeah...and it is a southern suburb in san diego. closer than all others mentioned to you.

I'll be visiting San Diego in November for a trade show and definitely will spending some time in a card room- I prefer 1/2 NLHE cash or small buyin tourneys $60 & under. I will be staying at the harbor and will have a rental car so driving an extra 1/2 hour is worth it if the casino/room is better than a closer place.

Would Oceans 11 be the place to go or would a local card room or Indian casino be better suited for me?

TIA

For the games you request Sycuan is probably best for your tourney and 1/2. Oceans 11 offers 1/1NL (40 maxbuyin) and 2/2NL(100max) games. They also have tourneys in mounrings for the price you are looking for. Best place in San Diego County is Oceans 11 in terms of play and atmosphere.

I played 2/2 at O11 last night, and it was one of the loosest games I've ever been in. At least 80% of the hands were raised PF, most w/re-raises. One sick hand about 10 minutes after I sat down and had grown my $100 to about $180 I got dealt pocket 9's. About $35 went in PF between 3 players. Flop is 2, 4, 5, 2 spades. Player 1 is the table maniac with about $400 behind checks. Player 2 bets $30, I call with my 9's, Player 1 calls. Turn is a red J. Check, $30 bet, I call, player 1 calls. River another 4. Player 1 checks, player 2 tanks for about 2-3 minutes & bets out $100. I figure my 9's are toast. Maybe someone was playing A3 or A4, or has a bigger pocket pair. I fold. Player 1 calls w/23... and WINS a HUGE pot.

Hey Brian, I'm going to be there in November for a conference as well. Which one are you attending?

yeah ive been going to oceans since i was 18. my buddy has been going since he was 16. both of us looked young for our ages too. this was back in late 2002, just before the poker boom hit. they are a bit more strict now, esp. on weekends. I got carded once in the three years i played under age.

hint: just walk around to the back where people smoke and go in the back doors.

Sycuan is a total dump and I would stay away from that place at all costs. My suggestion is to go to Oceans or Viejas.

I like Viejas the best for two reasons (which seem to work for this guy also) :

1)1-2NL has a $100 max buyin.

2)1-2NL is the lowest NL game in Viejas.

Oceans is cool, but they spread a 1-1 $40 game, so most of the newbie horrible players will be on those tables, whereas in Viejas, they are stuck playing 1-2 $100 max.

Just be sure not to win a jackpot if you're under 21. They take proof of ID for tax purposes and won't pay you your share if you're under 21. Plus, they kick you out.
