Hmmm. Let's see. You live in the largest city in the US. You can't figure out how to get to the most "famous" casino in the second largest gambling city in the US. Give me a break.

You would think there would be a train down the coast right to AC, but as far as I know there isn't.

I would just recommend getting dropped off at a casino that will give you cash as a bonus rather than slot dollars. For example, I think Tropicana gives cash, Trump Plaza gives slot dollars, and Hilton gives a voucher that is immediately redeemable. But things could have changed and I don't know how all of the casinos do it.

There is also the Acadamy bus line (check out schedules on the internet) leaving from Gate #1 at the Port Authority every half hour. Their buses are nicer and I prefer them over Greyhound. Less riffraff with Academy (they also have a frequent traveler program).

Years ago I used to only take Academy. I then became sick of being stranded when buses didn't appear, and I switched to Greyhound. Greyhound has more buses and is, in my experience, more reliable. I addition, you won't have to wait 15 minutes at the Cheesequake rest area.

Also, regarding another response, I think the only casino that gives slot dollars instead of an instant rebate is Resorts.

Academy bus line at Gate #1 (Down the escalator) at 42nd Port Authority for $31. Most casinos offer $20 cash back. Some require that you sign up for a casino membership which is free to sign up for.

Some casinos offer slot and food comps instead of cash.

The jitney to Borgata is $2 per ride and you will find details of which jitney bus you have to take by looking at the sign at the bus stop. Be prepared to spend a lot of time in line when leaving Borgata though.

I thought the train line was announced for the end of the year. Haven't heard anything about it in a while. I really don't think the train is going to make sense for anyone other than comped travelers, since it will be much pricier than the bus and will take just as long (assuming no traffic).

Yeah, the train is a no-hoper as way of cheap transportation. The only advantage it will have over buses is a slightly larger personal room. On any other point the bus will beat it hands down.

I remember hearing end of 07/spring 08 awhile ago. 1 issue was they had lay more track for the local trains so the AC express could go by, and it could only run on weekends. Should be straight to AC although thats still being discussed too. I haven't heard any updates in awhile so I guess its Spring if we're lucky. As for train vs bus, ~$65 round trip vs ~$10 on the bus. Pretty much guaranteed 2.5 trip vs. 2.5 if you're lucky. Can drink on the train and obviously more comfortable. Borgata isn't targeting the customer that cares about the $50 difference.
