Re: 10 Articles That Changed My Life
i was surprised and disappointed to find i thought the perfect girl story sucked. it just didn't do anything for me at all.
the jobs speech is good. better to read than to listen to, though. |

I don't find it terribly charming or deftly written. I also think I have a pretty strong aversion to the concept of "100% perfect girls" to begin with, as I feel that that level of idealism in relationships seems destructive. |

Re: 10 Articles That Changed My Life

That story reminds me of my favorite poem, by Thomas Hardy: A Thunderstorm in Town She wore a 'terra-cotta' dress, And we stayed, because of the pelting storm, Within the hansom's dry recess, Though the horse had stopped; yea, motionless We sat on, snug and warm. Then the downpour ceased, to my sharp sad pain, And the glass that had screened our forms before Flew up, and out she sprang to her door: I should have kissed her if the rain Had lasted a minute more. The thought of "Oh, I would have done X if I only had more time" seems universal and sad at the same time. [/ QUOTE ] I've never come across this before, but thanks for posting, really great poem |

Re: 10 Articles That Changed My Life
I thought this was ironic from the "10 reasons you should never get a job" article:
"The idea that a job is the most secure way to generate income is just silly. You can’t have security if you don’t have control, and employees have the least control of anyone. If you’re an employee, then your real job title should be professional gambler." |

[/ QUOTE ] Cool speech. His article entitled "A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again" is one of the funniest articles I've ever read. |
