Fred,

I tried to PM you with this question but your PM box is still full.

I have been playing exclusively at wsex for the past couple months. I'd like to continue to do so, pending how badly the contributed rake affects me, but I have a problem:

I will be heading out on a year-long trip overseas. I'm currently a US resident. Will there be any way for me to cash out while I'm traveling other than check? If not, will I be able to have checks made out to someone other than myself back in the states who can cash them for me?

I'd like to keep playing at your site, but I may not be able to unless I am able to find a reasonable way to cash out while overseas.

Thanks!

SC

Go to a UPS store and rent a box for $30 every three months. You might even have to temporarily change your address. No big deal. Change it back when you get home.

Have your checks sent to the box. Then have UPS forward your mail to you.

I did that for a year.

[/ QUOTE ]

Have UPS forward mail to me overseas? I'll be traveling around and won't be in the same spot long.

If I can just get someone in my family to deposit checks for me that might work, but I'm skeptical that they will be able to do it without a signature.

This is a check in your name going in your account - you're not exactly setting off alarm bells here. They aren't going to send it to a crime lab to analyze the handwriting patterns.

To save your family members from having to make trips to the bank/ATM to deposit the check, why not try an internet-based bank? Then they can just mail the check in with a deposit slip. Umbrella Bank is a very reliable one. They also reimburse all of your ATM fees.

Don't be. For my own reasons, I am rarely able to deposit my own checks. I either mail them to the bank or have another drop them off for me. No matter which method is used, the only thing ever written on the back is "Deposit Only" and my account number. I've never had even a hint of a problem.

You got one week until you have to pay the rakeback. Isn't that enough to make some extra profit by investments or on the stockmarket? I always thought the rake you collect (which seemed somehow superfluous) was nothing but a free credit for the company to make extra profit.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why do people think they can't make interest off your money unless it's in the form of held rakeback?

Every second that your money is in their accounts, regarldess of whether it's held rakeback or withdrawable, they're making interest on it. And that's great - I want them to turn a profit. But it's strange to me how this seems to be secretive or something, and for that matter that most people don't understand it.

[ QUOTE ]

Ultimate Bet does this if I am not mistaken. If the traffic increases than might help, but with the traffic as it is now I only see more short tables.

[/ QUOTE ]

Can anyone confirm that this is true? I know UB gives more FPPs to starting a table, but do they give rakeback now?

[ QUOTE ]

How can you expect intelligent poker players to make negative expectation sports bests. Sheer lunacy.

[/ QUOTE ]

Negative expectation relative to what?

Even picking sports bets randomly, you're looking at losing about 10% of the money (isn't online vig more like 5%?) By having 75% rakeback, you're losing 25%. So you'd rather have 25% taken out than 5-10%, because you couldn't live with yourself if you made a -ev sports bet that would actually be +ev in the grand scheme of things?

I very much like the idea of having to run your rakeback money through the sports book or casino (evey dollar wagered is a dollar cleared). Sure, you lose 5-10% of the value on average, but you're still getting 90-95% rakeback - plus you can have fun with it. I generally don't do sports bets, but if WSEX made it so that you had to to claim your money, I'd have fun with it, knowing that it was +ev in the sense that getting back 90% of your money is better than 75%.

Plus, from their perspective, people who start might keep playing (or get hooked, I guess) and that would ultimately bode well for their profit margin.

Having 100% rakeback, but making it be run through the sportsbook/casino to clear it is a really, really good idea.

Hell, give people an option. 75% unrestricted rakeback, or 100% clearable rakeback. The idiots who actually give up money in the name of not making -ev bets can have fun losing money and sneering at us.

[ QUOTE ]

Above you see the folly which doomed Wsex from day one. Actually, I take that back. Wsex was doomed the day the GM agreed with such stupidity and attempted to make it policy.

[/ QUOTE ]

A big part of the problem with WSEX is that it's filled with the kind of people that are participating in this thread. WSEX is like 75% nits, with another 15% being good players. Encouraging even more nits to come over and be multitabling slow ass hud-bots makes for boring poker and would just scare more people away. WSEX needs less 2+2ers and more casuals, and that that they're not caving into the "I feel dirty if I have double digit VPIP" crowd is probably a good move.

all of you who are saying the reason wpex isn't doing better is because of the "structure" of the rake or whatever...are completely clueless. The fish don't care nor pay attention to that stuff. The RB is awesome for everyone, even at 75% - nits, gamblers, what have you - it's a lot harder to go broke with huge rakeback than on your typical site.

The software is completely fine for me and I play 8 hours a day. Cash outs are fine. Even the nature of the games are fine - they can be tough at higher limits, but mostly the games are full of players who are too loose, too aggressive, or too predictable.

The ONLY problem is the traffic is not very heavy. Why more people aren't getting on the site is beyond me. It's still the most profitable gambling venture for skilled small stakes and mid stakes limit players on the internet bar none.

WSEX GM, do NOT switch to contributed rakeback. This is NOT going to help more people join, it is just going to chase away the regulars and serious players like the people who post here and constantly tell people they should play on WPEX. Use that 25% to market the hell out of the site. Market it as being "paid to play poker" for example. Just market it better. Just market it. That's all you need to do.
