Do you guys just simply pocket the chips after u win a pot?

[/ QUOTE ]

I grab one after the first decent pot I win. And like Ericshitte said, they are more for remembering good memories from a trip, rahter than as an investment. I'm not at the point where I pocket $25 chips, but one day.

I played in my first WSOP event this year and as a side task the wife and I set out to get a $1 chip from all of the major casinos of the strip and downtown.
We have a 63 chip wooden frame that we bought on ebay.
The first 2 rows are the casinos in order on the Bellagio side of the strip. The next 2 are the Harrahs side of the strip.
Left a line for a seperation then the same thing for downtown.

Looks sick and room to grow. The few I missed you can buy cheap off of ebay.

A few tips. Get you chips from the craps table. Alot of the lesser casinos use silver at blackjack and only have decent 1$ chips at the craps table. Buy in, ask for some 1s, you don't even really need to play, although my dang el cortez chip cost me 300$.

Get 1$ as opposed to 5$s. The price is alot cheaper and they are different colors whch look a bit more interesting in a frame as opposed to a bunch of red.

Leave space for defunt casinos you remember (Stardust, Barbary coast, aladdin) and get them off ebay to complete your personal collection.

If you buy into craps, ask for 10 whites, they assume you are using for toes, but it gives you a god selection of chips from which to take the cleanest to use in your display.

Have fun.

I went to Vegas for the first time last summer. My last day there was the day the Main Event Final table was played. I visited several poker rooms and bought home $1 chips from each. Several of the rooms I did not even play at. Like at MGM, I walked up to the cage and asked for $1 chip. The guy know exactly why I wanted it and said "Let me find you a clean one".

I also bought "Main Event chips" at the Rio in all demoniations for .25 each. I bought about 25 and passed them out to my friends when I came home. They enjoyed that small cheap gift very much.

At the Venetion (sp?), they had Phantom of the Opera $5 chips which I bought 2 home for my wife since she is a big fan. They also had $5 Celine Dion chips at Ceasers which my wife enjoyed very much.

People will buy or sell anything.

After 'Stars' Moneymaker Millionaire final in the Bahamas, 'Stars gave each of us 27 donkeys a half dozen of the tournament chips for souvenirs.

The chips had the PokerStar's PCA logo on one side and the Moneymaker Millionaire logo on the other side.

I did a search on eBay a couple of months after just to see if anyone was selling any and sure enough, one kid was selling his.

I think he got like $7 for one.

Seemed sort of goofy to me, but hey, to each his own.

We use real casino chips in the home game. $1s and $5s. usually anyone in the game who goes to a casino brings back 5 or 10 chips and donates them to the cause.

One buddy went to the Rio and brought back a rack of $1's. So now we have a lot.

It is fun to play with real chips. I too will collect obsolete Cali or Vegas chips. Not so much a passion, and I only have a couple dozen that would fit that defination, compared to the 500 we have in the home game set.

I collect $1 chips from every casino I step foot in. I spent the better part of a day walking the entire strip in Vegas just to walk into every casino to check them all out. It sounds stupid to a lot of folks, but most hobby's are kinda dumb if you think about it. Started at Mandalay Bay and walked all the way down to Circus, Circus, then crossed the street and came back. I felt it the next day.

I have a display case that I mount them in that hangs on the wall next to my computer. It makes a great conversation piece. I bought the frame here: Chip Displays

I don't collect the special edition chips or chips from casinos that I haven't been to...just the ones i visit.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think this is pretty cool.
