never been, but I'm sure it sucks. if it's wsop season there's no reason not to play at the rio. if not then play at mgm grand or wynn for low stakes. play bellagio or venetian for higher stakes. play tournaments at caesars.

I stayed there for a few weeks last year during during the same time Festa Al Lago was going on.

We only played there 4 times in 2 weeks, it was 4 tables and never more than 2 1/2NL running, most people were only buying in for $100.

If you aren't going to rent a car its best to just walk across the skywalk to MGM. The MGM room is right down the stairs on left when you enter from the Trop skywalk. Plus the walk is right beyond the poker room so you can scout it every time you head over to MGM.

Friend and I stayed there last week for 4 nights, and the poker room at the Trop sucked. I believe they only had one or 2 table2 running most of the time we were there and my buddy said it was 1/2NL game, and I think a low limit game (2/4?) at the other table. The room is towards the back, and never saw much traffic going by it.

My buddy ended up playing MGM and the 1/3 NL 200 max game at the EX (he liked this better than the MGM game.)

two tables of 1/2 nl with most people shortbuying. the cap was 100 then and most bought in for less.

I played there on July 5th. It sucked. I think they had 2 1/2NL games running. And they also had some tournament running on 2 other tables. It even took 30 minutes for the waitress to bring me a beer.

Planet Hollywood has a nice new room, you should check it out. Good tournaments, good cash games, and everyone is friendly there.

The best poker at Tropicana is across the street at MGM. Take 5 minutes and cross the bridge. It is very +EV to do so.

I played in quite a decent 1/2NL game there a couple of weeks ago (the only game running), including the usual mix of a couple of locals and a bunch of drunk, clueless tourists. The buyin is $200, not $100 as mentioned above.

However, you can literally walk from the Trop poker room to the MGM poker room in 2 minutes, where you will find around 10 x 1/2NL games on a typical evening.

TOP TIP :

Valet park at the Trop, and then walk across the bridge to the MGM. You will save 5 mins and 400 yards in each direction, plus the Trop valet is much quicker to return your car.
