Is it a rule that you talk to other adults as if they were babies when babies are present?

Sorry if that sounds kind of snotish. My roommate just became a single mother and babies are ruining my life (due to having a baby, not the father dying or leaving, he was never there). This is a fairly mild case of some of what I've seen.
