TPTK in 3bet pot vs ATC villain
Villain is 65/50/2.5. He raises good hands to 4BB or more. Minraises any connectors, small pp, sooted cards, pretty much anything all the time. He is like a live straddle. So far I 3bet him several times but had absolutely no luck with the flops. He also seems somewhat competent postflop and fast plays his big hands very hard, does not attempt to float OOP or bluff on paired boards. I mean "bet pot / 3bet all in" kind of fastplay with all big hands I saw from him so far. Probably sees me as quite spewy as I made a mistake of bluffing some stupid regular who managed to limp call UTG with AQs. I also 3bet villain with TT before and called his all in preflop when he had KK. Thats was at the start of the session when I had not yet figured out his preflop betting pattern. Anyway.
No IQ poker 0.25/0.50, hand converted by the iPoker Converter at Talking-Poker Button ($50.00) SB ($191.65) BB Hero ($51.80) UTG ($187.53) UTG+1 ($142.61) Preflop: Hero is in the BB with K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG raises to 1.00, 2 folds, SB calls 0.75, Hero raises to 4.50, UTG calls 4.00, 1 fold. Flop (11.00) A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero bets 7.75, UTG calls 7.75. Turn (26.50) 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero bets 16.00, UTG calls 16.00. River (58.50) J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero ??? I don't like neither jack nor the second 8 at all. But I am not really going to c/f here either. |

Re: TPTK in 3bet pot vs ATC villain
you can't think of folding at this point, once you bet that turn there is no turning back, so either bet or c/c, I'd prefer c/c, not much is calling and seems opponent likes to bet too

Re: TPTK in 3bet pot vs ATC villain
Valueshove. If he's gotten this far he can easily talk himself into calling with a weak ace, as he chops with a whole bunch now. Also, if he's even somewhat competent postflop he wouldn't call that flop with just an 8, and if he thinks AJ is a good hand he wouldn't have minraised it.

I like the detailed analysis but I think you are saying at this point he is an unknown?
If so, you have to value bet the river. |

Re: TPTK in 3bet pot vs ATC villain
Villain's going to get 4-1 on a call, I don't think he can fold any A on this board, and AQ outnumbers AJ combo's alone. Villain fast plays? He'd have popped you on turn if the 8 hit.
You're toast if you were toast from the flop on, otherwise you're not getting a bet out of Ax by a c/c line. Just push the rest in. It would be a shame to not get a full 200bb against this table's stacks. |

hmmm seems I miss money on these value betting spots by trying to induce bluffs, glad I'm aware now, thanks forum

Re: TPTK in 3bet pot vs ATC villain
Yeah, check/calling to induce a bluff is really bad here as there weren't really any draws. If you hypothetically checked and he shoved, he probably has you beat.
AJ is really the only hand that beats you given your reads. It sucks if he had that, but not betting the river is losing value. |

He actually called me down with 83o. I dont know wtf he was thinking on the flop, perhaps floating the turn or something.
