Default A New Rule Exclusive For Mods

Based on the "Free Nath" thread, I began to think about the discretion of 2+2 mods. Not all of them, but some of them. I'm not singling out anyone or pointing fingers.

As a police officer, I have the discretion to arrest people any time they violate the Pennsylvania Uniform Code (PAUC). However, I cannot just arrest someone because I dislike them; I need to have a reason first. I also cannot arrest someone because of something they say to me that offends me, such as anything that deals with pigs, bacon, donuts, being corrupt, power hungry, how I do my job, or anything else you can think of, unless it annoys or alarms other people in the area.

In relation, mods here are the police of 2+2. They are appointed to a position of power to enforce the Terms & Conditions and/or any other rules set in place by the particular forum. They have the power to ban anyone for any violation of the T&C and use their discretion to enforce the terms as they see fit.

It is my position that mods should not be able to ban anyone for any personal comment made to them. If a poster continually attacks a mod with no legitimate purpose, or it offends or creates a hostile environment, then I feel that it would be reasonable under other conditions set forth within the mods of 2+2.

I also believe there should be some form of chain of command that mods have to go through for certain cases. Banning a troll with 10 posts can be left to the mods of that particular forum, but banning someone for something they say to someone else or for just speaking their mind should have to go through some kind of vote before that person can be banned. Nath has been around for a long time and has contributed to the success of many 2+2 posters, including my own. For many others who contribute in a positive way to this forum, they should have gained some respect in some form or another through their time. For someone who has 15,000+ posts that were not troll related or POG-enhanced (no offense) there should be some kind of immunity under certain conditions.

I think 2+2 needs to tighten up on the mods a little and start regulating their position of power.

Flame away.

I was banned a month or 2 ago for 3 days for something that happened back in April. I found it ridiculous and extremely questionable, and I was never unbanned.

I think you were banned for a bad thread that was ninjabumped. Mistakes happen.

I was banned because I apparently posted a picture in a thread that wasn't imageshacked, and a server side swap turned it into some porn picture. It was in August that I was banned, and the time I posted a picture was in April. I found it ridiculous that I was banned for that as it was 4 months prior.
