its an obvious fold. HIs range is sets/87/9T and occasionally a goofy semibluff which is probably 30% to beat you.

Your preflop raise is highly exploitable. You need to make it about 12 to go preflop IMO.

A good rule of thumb people use is 4bb + 1 BB per limper, instead of raising standard 4 BBs even if the whole table limps.

i usually do go to $12 right here pre oop...but with a hand like AA im trying to to give him a cheaper flop so maybe he'll hit top pair and pay me off a lil....while at the same time building the pot enough to make him wanna play the hand....understand that theory?

I understand that you got sucked out on, and would like it to happen more in the future.

Varying the size of your pre flop raise according to hand strength is a no no. You should be raising the same amount PF whether you have AA or 87s. Not only are you giving up value by raising less with your big hands but you make yourself easy to read and thus exploitable.

No one mentioned this yet, but I think checking the turn is bad and I would prefer a b/f line. Checking lets him bet with ATC and will make the turn and river more difficult to play.

See, this would be an excellent theory if you raised a very wide range preflop in this spot.

I've played against you, and you don't. I'd guess your hand range preflop to be AK TT+, maybe AQ.

So basically when you make that raise preflop you are saying "Look, all you ass holes who are limping in with crappy hands. I have a top 3.5% hand right now, so I'm going to give you guys A) at least 35:1 implied odds preflop, B) like 4:1 express odds preflop, C) a cheap shot at position with a drawing hand, and D) an extreme probability that I'm going to have a strong hand on most flops."

And determining from the fact that you are even considering calling all in here, we can go ahead and add "E) I'll stack off to you a lot when you hit, too."

No offense intended, thats as clearly as I could communicate this.

well if this guy was a reg, i prolly would have played it a lil differently, but i can be fairly certain this guy has no clue how i play as this is the only table we have ever played together...and up to this point we had played 22 hands together...anyhow, the pf raise doesnt matter, as im sure he would have called $10 more just as easily as $6 more...
