while an 8 is certainly within villain's range, there are also a heap of hands that are in villain's range that do not contain an 8.

in addition, even if villain does have an 8, there's no certainty that he would raise.

Actually, stoving it, i like betting and calling a push.

If he calls and river blanks out though, then i'm a bit stuck.

that's why imho a c/c on turn is better - as long as you do the same with an 8 in your hand.

as played I block bet the river and fold to a push if it's a passive fish - against an aggro fish I c/c
