Not to defend Harrah's & I don't know Richard Brodie, or his character, but it's possible that they suspected some sort of possible collusion with a programmer or something & couldn't prove it.

If that were the case then their likely course of action would be to prevent him from playing, change programmers, and not give anyone the true reason for his banishment to protect themselves from any lawsuits for falsly accusing someone of cheating.

I'm not saying this is what is happening, but it's a possible scenario.

Any2, Richard "Quiet Lion" Brodie is the guy who created Microsoft Word. (He's also the guy whose idea it was to red underline errors in Word) So I doubt he needs to do a collusion scam on video poker.

yeah, like I said I was just speculating and playing devil's advocate.

Now I undestand how he's playing $100 video poker. I didn't think he made enough money playing in Ultimate Poker Challenge tournaments to throw that kind of money around.

The man was barred for playing VIDEO POKER.

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't be silly! The man was not barred for playing Video Poker. The man was barred for the most obvious reason...for being LUCKY! Everyone knows, even Casinos, that you can't beat old lady luck! Hell if Sklansky were lucky he'd win th WSOP every year but he's not. Well, not in cards. He's lucky in love. Always has them young things hanging around him. In the paraphrased words of the Joker: " How does he get those wonderful Toys"? How? I'll tell you how. He's lucky.

There is no substitute for luck. Why if it weren't for luck how could the poor Casinos make a buck? Yes Brodie broke the first commandment of playing in a Casino. Don't get lucky! No wonder they barred him!

86ing him from the WSOP is moronic. He should sue them for the right to play in the WSOP. If they allow ZeeJustin and Andy Bloch to play, they should allow Brodie. Why do I mention Andy? He was a part of the MIT blackjack teams and wrote a book/DVD on beating blackjack.

Normally I would say there must be more to this story, but we're talking about Harrah's.

I always though video poker was what grandmas played to lose the least in order to get food comps. Obviously jackpots can be hit but it's not like you can cheat to hit them. Why wouldn't they want his variance free guaranteed 6-9% juice from the series. Benny Binion is rolling in his grave at what the series has come too.
