marginal BB defense
I have no read on my opponent in the button, except for the following. He has been at the table for a few orbits and has never open-folded or open-limped in the cutoff, button, or SB. I have not seen him show down any of those hands yet. So far he's 4/4 for steal attempts and this one makes it 5/5.
2/4 Hold'em (4 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Preflop: Hero is BB with 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Button raises, 1 fold, Hero calls. Flop: (4.50 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, Button bets, Hero raises, Button calls. River: (6.25 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) What do you think of the flop/turn play? And hmm.. is it time to accept my fate? |

Re: marginal BB defense
The flop play looks fine. Once the guy 3bets, im done with the hand unless I hit, on that turn card I would check/call after that flop action. If I did bet the turn, I would check/fold that river card.
Edit: I thought the BTN 3bet the flop, my bad, im retarded. This hand is standard, I would check/fold the river. |

Re: marginal BB defense
I agree that if he 3bets the flop, I'm not going to try to take down the pot UI. But here, he didn't 3bet the flop. He bet/called. You would still check/call this turn? I don't think I ever would, because a c/r semi-bluff will rarely work on the flop, because virtually no one at 2/4 ever bet/folds flops. They will peel one off and fold on the turn if they're gonna fold. I feel if I'm going to c/r semibluff the flop I have to follow up on the turn.

Re: marginal BB defense
i like a preflop three bet to bounce up our fold equity.
Flop looks good. I check/call the turn, though. |

Re: marginal BB defense
I like how you played this hand. I think that river is a check-fold. He has some sort of show-downable hand at this point way too much, IMO.

That was the only plausible draw the guy could have. He's not folding Ax or 9x. So its a check/fold for me. NH. |

Re: marginal BB defense
meh... I don't agree. Had we not picked up the bigger draw on the turn, I'd bet again, but here I like check/call. I still think hands like KJ fold to the flop raise a big majortiy of the time.

[/ QUOTE ] I see your point Buck, I have often wondered if I was better off check/calling with big draws on the turn after checkraising the flop on specifically Ace high boards, and even check/folding the turn with gutshots. I agree with you that when the villain calls the flop checkraise this is bad news. I suppose as always the turn play is largely player dependent. |

Re: marginal BB defense
I know at 0.5/1 where I play that everybody peels the flop if they've already put bets in so a turn bet is standard for me. It's similar to how they always call from the blinds.

Re: marginal BB defense
Does everyone agree with defending with 45s? I've been defending with this hand has well. (Especially with the villain being a habitual stealer.) The more I think about it though, the more I think this hand is trash in HU situation.
