Default $11 Sunday 100K on the bubble

This is today's 100K...

It's about 5 min's until the first bubble breaks. (Pays $17.69) I can easily fold into the money.

I would rate UTG as an average player, average level of aggressiveness.

How should I play this?

Poker Stars, $10 + $1 NL Hold'em Tournament, 500/1,000 Blinds, 9 Players
LegoPoker Hand History Converter

BB: 9,400
UTG: 14,273
UTG+1: 9,332
Hero (UTG+2): 12,550
MP1: 14,930
MP2: 16,230
CO: 6,515
BTN: 17,630
SB: 17,290

Pre-Flop: (2,400) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (UTG+2)

Screw folding into the money. Folding into the money is atrogeus. Folding QQ is awful. Folding passively before the bubble is crap. Being scared to bubble in MTTs is horrid. /rant. Shove.

OK here are some more thoughts...

Since UTG is raising, I have to believe this is a premimum hand (JJ+, AQ+). I don't believe they have AA because they'll raise less hoping to get more than just the blinds.
And QQ isn't likely because I have two...

So that leaves AQ, AK, KK and JJ... I dominate AQ and JJ, the AK's are a flip, and UTG dominates me with KK

My "real" options are Push and Call.

If I push, more than half the time I am flipping or being dominated.

If I call, I can play a flop in position... (and hope it doesn't come down AKJ - LOL)

calling's not an option either...you really think calling 1/3 of your chips and folding to a less than favourable flop is a good option?

you're short and it's an ridiculously easy push...this is the hundred grand...the average player in this tourney doesn't have a sense of position so his range for raising utg is the same as LP.

From the sounds of it you're trying to convince us that you should find a fold here because you lost a race or something...but no you can't, shove it all day.

folding for the cash isn't really worth it is it? You profit a little more than $6...
I agree with don.. i've played the 100K guaranteed tourney, some of the worst plays i've seen have come from this tourney... i wouldn't take into consideration the position of the raise... i'd shove shove shove.

Wow, my tells are that obvious? Nice job.

I was just thinking that if UTG had AK, they would have a tough time folding versus my all-in raise preflop but if I pseudo-stop-N-go'd on a blank flop I get the pot and I'm always getting the token tournament cash, all with out needing to race...

"cashing" in an $11 tourney is worthless. It's the spots at the top of the paygrade that make the tournament worth entering in the first place. If you're considering folding QQ on the bubble in this situation, then you should probably ask yourself if you're playing to win $6 or maximize your chances of placing high and/or winning the tournament. there may be a sense of accomplishment in "reaching the money", but I think a lot of players would rather bust on the bubble trying to build a competitive stack than to fold their way into a small amount of money.
