Bill Clinton has to be the winner.

He is the most popular/visible ex-president in the US and is a God pretty much all over the world. Bonus points if he croaks as First Husband.

Domestically (US) I'm thinking Jimmy Carter. The problems of his presidency have long since taken a back seat to his more recent humanitarian work, and given the coverage of Ford's state funeral, Carter's will be huge.

You're right, he didn't. I live here, so that's what I was talking about.

Probably some Chinese person's death would have the biggest impact. Like Yao Ming or Bruce Lee.

yeah surprised not to see bill clinton mentioned earlier/more

im not american but in the rest of the world he is much more admired than most other american celebrities/icons
