Some Notes On Foxwoods

I decided to play 2/5 NL at the woods this weekend for the first time ever, before I'd only played limit there except one time when I tried out 1/2 when it was 100 NL. If you saw a guy in a blue striped nautica polo and khaki shorts, playing attrociously that was me. Yeah I wore the same thing for 3 days because a one day trip kinda turned into three days. Whatever. I was there friday around 4:30 PM through about 1:30 AM monday morning.

I just thought I'd make some points about foxwoods.

1. Oh. My. God. Jaime Gold is ruining everything. Especially on friday. Every single clown thought he was Jaime Gold, and would love to say stuff like "I have a pair, can you beat that? What you got?" when heads up. Slowed the game down. The pot's not that big, it's not that much to call. Just call or fold already, wow. I'd never seen anything like this in AC or Vegas. Even in relativly big pots, donk number one just stack off to donk number 2 already. Jesus.

2. In general, people at the woods take forever to make any decision. For the first time in my life I called time on someone on sunday. There was maybe 200 in a the pot and he was contemplating a 100 dollar call. One guy who was obviously a regular, would look around, and then fold at his action (generally would wear a black t shirt, dark slicked hair, maybe around 40) and every decision was like the WSOP. He was basically also very angry most of the time. It felt like in general we were getting maybe 10 hands a half hour or something (and we're paying $6 each for that half hour) because of how slow people are. Wow.

3. It's amazing how weak tight everyone was. In general the games just suck compared to AC or vegas, but OMG tight nits everywhere. I'd call their raises knowing exactly their range, and then they'd get upset when my AT beat their JJ, or when no one would call their raises. I was amazed. I guess I've just never seen such weak tight nitness before, especailly to this degree, especially on a summer weekend anywhere else. Including foxwoods really.

I'm also amazed at how many regulars there are there. I dont remmeber that being the case in the past, or maybe just not at limit, I dunno. After 3 days it felt like every table I played at, I'd already played with 2-3 players before during the weekend. Everyone knew each other. This is just another reason not to play there, the sheer amount of regulars, who just aren't as bad as a random drunk tourist.

The only thing nice about the place is the tables themselves (ie nice seats, cupholders, and the tables are big enough and spaced out enough that you don't get bumped by people walking that often). The tourney I played in (300+40) also has a better structure (10k starting chips, 30 minute levels) than anywhere else as far as I can tell. This is more of a rant than anything, but I just thought I'd say that since I've been going to other places, foxwoods just seems sooo bad in just about every way, but now more than ever the players. The games just weren't as soft as borgata or vegas, and slow and nitty.
