if like, guerrero or manny ramirez etc. (some all star outfielder) gets traded to the yankees they'll make the playoffs. otherwise they're pretty much screwed because the AL Central is winning the wild card this year

Yankees have played like they should be a few games over .500 with their run differential (widely used in baseball statistical circles as a reliable indicator of the true strength of a team).

Considering they've started like 11 different pitchers, 7 of which have been rookies, and it's not even June yet, I think that's pretty nice.

Eventually the rotation will settle into a groove if the injury bug goes away (crosses fingers), and the Yankees can end up with 90+ wins easily with the offense as it is--5th best in the majors.

Pretty much spot on. I really don't think they're going to win the division this year (something like if they play .600 ball and the Sox play .500 ball they'll end up with same record), but they could make a run at beating out either Cleveland or Detroit.

Yankees are never out of it, regardless of record. They can spend some $$ and get right back in the race.

Only have to get INTO the playoffs anyway, winning division is basically useless

some of the rookies are better than the vets you think are going to save the yankees when they "settle into a groove", so that excuse doesnt work.
the only thing the yankees can hope for is the offense gets better. them being 5th is a joke.
