What exactly was it that Locke bent over and scooped up(looked like dirt) as they were walking? I don't know if anyone has seen the movie The Skeleton Key but some Voodoo/Hoodoo cultures believe that you sprinkle certain substances around something to keep bad spirits out.

and I don't think the chances of locke being dead are 0% . . . I just wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't. if I had to make a line it would be about 3:2 in favor of him being alive.
