FTP $10 - $30/$60 - Pocket TT in MP
Just seat at a new table: I don't like a call here basically because any face card is a bad card for me.
PSB reraising, shoving or mucking? Full Tilt Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $30/$60 8 players Converter Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is MP1 with T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1[3,410] raises to $240, Hero[1725] ??? |

Re: FTP $10 - $30/$60 - Pocket TT in MP
I hate these spots. I agree that calling is awkward here, but raising (even if you *gulp* minraised) commits your stack... but shoving is a huge overbet. And folding TT preflop in a $10? No.
So I guess I call here and reevaluate on the flop. I think it's the least bad of the three options. I also snap-call if someone squeeze-pushes behind me. Matt |

Ok Matt, so basically (as Bond18 say in a post today) just to avoid +EV/+cEV situations? I hate spots like that where someone (especially UTG) raise and you hold a good but not great hand: if I hold here AK instead of TT was playable in the same way or stronger? Thanks!

Re: FTP $10 - $30/$60 - Pocket TT in MP
You'd be in a similar spot with AK. It's your stack size that makes this spot suck. If you were deeper, I'd be re-raising with either TT or AK. If I were shorter, I'd be pushing either as well (unless UTG was rock-tight). But here you're in that no-mans-land of 30 BBs which makes this tough.
AK does play a bit better vs his range, so I'd be more inclined to push AK preflop in this spot than I would TT. |

without a read it's not an easy decision, but i think this is a push, but calling and getting it in on any non-A non-K flop is fine as well.

Re: FTP $10 - $30/$60 - Pocket TT in MP
Oh yeah AK is a much easier push here than TT...there are 3 combinations of hands that have you crushed with AK, and 3 more where you're behind, whereas with TT there are 24 combinations that have you crushed. I agree that this spot sucks, and I don't like pushing or calling really, but I think on balance I like calling and getting it in on favorable looking flops.

Thanks guys, always had problems in such a spot: I'll try to evaluate them better.

I shove AK & call TT, because AK fairs much better against his calling range than TT. But TT can still be played profitably by calling.
