Default Clay Chips?

Are these quality clay chips here? Or are they just like regular plastic chips.

They are clay chips with a metal inlay. Definitely not casino quality clay chips. However they are far superior to plastic chips.

Real clay chips (casino quality) are about 9-9.5 grams...those hunks of crap are 14 grams. I can't even image how clunky they would feel.

Here's a bit of advice that I took a long time ago, and still use it in principle today. Buy the best, because in the long run you will not regret it.

If you buy those crappy chips, then go to someone's home game where they are playing with Paulson chips or TR Kings, you'll be sorry that you just didn't plunk down the money for the good chips to start with.

I have Paulson James Bond chips and absolutely love them. I have a few sample sets from various manufacturers, and the Paulson's were clearly the ones I preferred. TR King also makes a nice clay chip as well. You will pay about $1-1.25 per chip for REAL casino quality clay chips. But again, you will not regret the purchase after the first time you play a game with them...

Here's a good site with various chips. You can order sample sets of the different chips to see which you like the best.

You should head over to chiptalk.net and you should also get a lot of samples before ordering. If you are looking for a budget chip, you should consider Sopranos six-stripes or Crown Wheatears, if you can spend a bit more, deals can be found for ceramics at .25-.40 a chip and compression clays at .50 a chip.

In re those Paulson chips: is that bit of color around the edge daubed on by hand? It certainly isn't evenly done and, to me, makes them rather unattractive.

It means they have a metal slug in them.. As a regular at chiptalk I can't see myself saying they are "good" but if you like them and everyone else at the game does than they are "good"..

Stay away from clay chips, then. It's not paint, it's clay edge spots inserted into the clay chip, then baked iirc

If you want precise edging, you're a ceramic chip or a fake clay chip man.
