[/ QUOTE ] it's still helpful to see where you stand in these commone situations. substitute yourself for the AKs or 77 guy. see how your equity stacks up in terms of these specific examples and it becomes easier to estimate equity based on ranges weighted towards a specific type of holdings(ie. a certain draw or top pair or whatever). in other words, being able to estimate your equity with certain hands in common situations helps estimate equities of complete ranges since alot of them are weighted towards a particular type of holding(based on the board/action usually holds top pair or a draw, etc.). more importantly this helps you understand WHY something is how it is versus just seeing that something is how it is because the hot/cold sim tells you so(or the forum or a book or whatever). theory man, theory. don't you see that? [/ QUOTE ] Common situations can be counted by outs and converted to % pretty simply. Don't really need to stove. That's mostly HU, though so your exercise has a pretty interesting application to multieay. Again, range reading and then stoving that is more useful. No need to get defensive on your baby though.

[/ QUOTE ] sure it's helpful to learn how to guesstimate equity against certain ranges. but there needs to be a starting point. therefore, it depends on the level of skill of the player involved in the exercise. this is a good starting point, whether you realize it or not. i guess a person of your "expert" status may not need to see how certain holdings fluctuate in terms of equity when involved in multiway situations. that doesn't mean there are not others in this forum that it will benfit.
