Default Valve Hacked?

[ QUOTE ]
Sitting inside Valve Corp's bank account as of April 8, 2007: $9,003,960.83 USD. Allegedly. That information didn't come from some proud, trumpeting corporate press release or quarterly earnings statement. The Bellevue, Washington gamemaker never talks. Especially when hackers claim to pillage secure servers, stealing user credit card numbers and financial statements.

I bought a few games online through steam. Should I take action?

It's really unclear what the status of this thing really is.

Valve seems to be shutting down most all of the reports (including the entire domain no-steam.org, where the hacker made his announcement).

Valve is claiming that it's not a big deal, and that they only hacked into their Cyber Cafe software, and that most Steam users are safe. Sometimes it's tough to trust corporate in situations like this, though.

I would just keep a watchful eye on your credit card. All major cc companies have some means of protection in place, for this kind of stuff, so it shouldn't be too terrible even if they do charge stuff to your card.

Pretty gross that Valve doesn't feel the need to warn its customers, though.

Thankfully, I got HL2 GOTY edition and it never involved me using my CC. Not to mention, virtually everything that is sold on Steam sucks.

Thanks for the tips, I'll be severely pissed at Steam is anything happens.

I mean they already took several years off my life, now this?
