Re: Official September Thread: General Discussion, whining .. etc
To everyone who is debating real life work vs poker. Would your opinion change at all if poker winnings were tax free?
Also it seems like the cost of living an upper medium class lifestyle is way more expensive in the US vs Australia. Ie I attended the best University in the State for a few years and it only cost around $2000 AUD per semester. As University education is sponsored by the federal government. Also there seem do be some pretty major cultural differences between the US and Australia, in terms of wealth creation and "how much is enough" mentality. |

Re: Official September Thread: General Discussion, whining .. etc
I agree w/ most of what DLizzle has said.
I know I'm not as smart as most of you college kids, but I still LOL at the blanket "I'm gonna graduate, get a good job and make billions" attitudes. Being brilliant and working your ass off helps, but it doesn't guarantee anything. We've all seen graphs/simulations of good players running well below their expectation for ridiculous amounts of time. I'm convinced the same thing happens in life. You have to work hard, but you have to run good too. It's as much about working hard as it is about meeting the right person at the right time, or having the right idea at the right time, etc. There is a lot of CHANCE involved in life. Or maybe this is just my excuse for not being a millionaire at age 27. What I do know now that I did not know in college: -Working in an office SUCKS. I hate it and never want to go back. -Working for someone else SUCKS. You lose all sense of pride of your work and motivation. -Making a [censored] of money in the business world won't necessarily make you happy. A lot of this point has to do with the fact that to make a [censored] in the business world, the business has to become your world. I worked with a lot of people who made a lot of money, but their whole worlds' were their jobs. It made me sick. Def not worth it. I now make a decent wage (by American population standards) playing poker. I love every day of my life now. I was depressed and hated everything before I quit my job. It sucked the life out of me. (I was a computer programmer working 40 hrs a week. Not too bad. But I still HATED it.) I would not go back to work at my not-bad job for double the wage that I make now playing poker. Still not worth it. |

For a while me and Jfish were in talks of staking for the big sunday donkaments, but nothing materialized and he's not interested in staking anymore apparently. I'm looking to get staked for just the sunday tournaments on FTP/PS. I would plan on playing anything up to the $200s but never above them without permission or unless told otherwise. I'm very open to altering details of the stake also if need be. I've transferred money with a lot of people in here, and I've also been staked previously by Jsnipes for cash games, which worked out pretty well for the both of us. I'd like to say I'm pretty +EV in these tournies but truth be told I don't have a lot of MTT experience. The experience I do have is also mostly with buyins $50 or below. I've had a good bit of success in those, fwiw. Anyways, that's that. If you're interested PM me and hopefully we can work something out. A lot of people can vouch for my credibility and I like to think I'm pretty good at this game they call poker. [/ QUOTE ] don't you play 200s? why would u need staking when the tournies cost 1 buy in? |

Re: Official September Thread: General Discussion, whining .. etc
What is fair BR management for MTTs anyway? 100 buy ins? So need about 20k BR to be comfortably rolled for the Sunday million?
