Irieguy,

I was at the 2005 Labor Day, shin-ding. I bought you a Heinken and you returned the favor at Spearmint...

Irie's brought up a ton of points, I have iras funded from years of beating poker that in and of itself contribute to several years of income when compounded over the course of my lifetime.

Couches to crash in nearly any city I can think of.. Nearly as important, ski buddies, none of my friends [censored] ski. Bunch of posers. Yeah, snow boarding is well cool!

I came to 2p2 because I was looking for a poker strategy forum after being a frustrated red chip cardcounter. I had spent time on blackjack boards so I was aware of the value of strat forums, but blackjack can be a tough grind if you don't have a large bankroll. You have to find playable games in grimy, nasty places well off the Strip.

One day I read a post by a counter whom I respected. He said he'd pretty much abandoned blackjack for Hold 'em and was making a lot more money. I thought, poker eh? You can play poker in nice places on the Strip, and there's lots of poker right around home; I don't have to hump up to Reno or go to Vegas to find a decent game.

So I spent a lot of time in the strat forums originally. At the same time I was starting my family and no longer had the time I would have liked to devote to poker. It's been fun watching some of the strat posters from 'my era' ( I have some 1/2 6max hands against Stoxtrader in my db) go on to mondo poker success. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit envious but I wouldn't trade my current situation for anything and hell, poker will always be around.

After some time away from the site I came back and started posting more in the old OOT. I found the same kind of smart folks who are good at poker can also be pretty entertaining and informative in other areas as well.

2p2 has kept me up to speed on the entertainment and sports worlds. I've learned a lot lurking in the finance forum also.

I do spend probably more time than I ought here. I could be studying harder with my down time at work. On the other hand, working nights in front of a computer can get pretty quiet and weird; reading threads gives me something like a link to the outside world. I'll be around.

Cliff notes: I spend probably more time than I should here. But I like it, so what the hell.

I typically cycle through obsessions of one sort or another, so if it wasn't one thing it would be another. So I can't say I regret spending too much time in any one place, and I fully expect those places to change over time. I do regret that 2+2 often hasn't been what it could be, but then again, you have to balance that against the undeniable fact that it could also be so much worse, and so many places are.

If anything, I regret that my talent for hold-em seems to have a low ceiling. I never really got all that good at it, and I'm used to being able to accomplish things I put my mind to. That was especially surprising to me because I was able to count cards well in blackjack and also did quite well in seven-card stud. I'm better at my worst in 7-stud than I was at my best in hold'em. Oh well. So if there was a disappointing level of pay-off I got from the forums, it was on the poker side, and that blame can't be assigned to the forums themselves.

This is my first ever Lounge post. I spend WAY too much time on 2+2. I have been a lurker, first at the strat forums and now also the off-topic forums, for 2 years or so and have gone through intermittent periods of SERIOUS addiction. I rarely post and when I do it's usually only because I think I have something interesting to contribute. With that being said, I still love it here and this is by far the most interesting, most entertaining "online community" that I have encounterd.

Seems everyone comes for the strat forums and stays for the off topic.

Overall, this has to be in the top tier of sites with intelligent posters. (and owners)
It would be tough to find intelligent content on such a varied array of topics on another site.

Mixed reaction about finding the site. Some characters really confuse/scare me and i am generally shocked to see that someone really grew up to be like that.

It is the only forum I have ever read, so it is interesting seeing how people act on here.

I think it has been good for me overall, or at least I can't see any negatives yet. If the site disappeared, I would be fine it is not like I am reliant on it for anything.

I really enjoy 2+2, especially The Lounge.

In the beginning, I followed the strategy forums and always enjoyed the B&M forum. I feel it really helped my poker game quite a bit. Did I make a ton of money from Poker, No. But before the damn govt crackdown I made a fair amount fomr the meager stakes I played, bought a few noce things I would not have bought otherwise and found some interesting characters along the way.

I know I check in here way more than I post. If there is something particularly interesting, I post if not or I do not have anything else interesting to add I just enjoy reading. I check it in the morning, a couple of times during the day during breaks and in the evening as well.

I would be dissapointed if the site dissapeared. I enjoy living vicariously though others and there is usually something here to enjoy reading.

I have never met anyone from 2+2 in the real world with the exception of one guy a bunch of years ago who sat next to me at a table in Las Vegas. I wouldn't mind meeting some more people but the chance has just never happened. Maybe some day.

What's funny/pathetic for me is that a lot of you guys only average about 1000 posts/year yet I instantly recognize most of you. Runkmud, Golden Rhino, thirddan, et al. I keep thinking you guys will have the same high embarrassing post count as I will because you're recognizable, yet you have about 1/6th over twice as much time. I'm not sure I put the necessary quality of attention into the hours as consistently as I should have, though I put in plenty of hours. I think I could have done better on my end. But maybe only theoretically. When I took up hold'em I was in some extremely bleak and stressful years on the job and in my life in general, and I was so stressed I had memory and concentration problems. For whatever level of ability I have, the hours and the quality of concentration I applied were not enough. For someone with greater natural ability, or perhaps for me in a better period, what I brought to the table then might have been enough. I do intend to try again in the future, though, and haven't sworn off the game or anything. I'm actually hoping that the U.S. reverses its legal moves on the online casinos, so one day it will be easy to get into it again from the comfort of home.
