1st saturday of october: won 10 BB at 10/20

2nd saturday: won 90 BB at 10/20.

i'm 75% of the way to 500 BB, thereby reaching the promised land of playing 20/40.

i'm looking forward to soon getting pwned by players who are better than me. at least it will be a learning experience.

14 hrs. and i started the 1st 5 hrs down $300.

it was my longest session this year, but the game was too good to leave. I would have stayed even longer (the game was still going, and the play seemed to be getting even more retarded) but i'm committed to getting home before the sun rises as I go to work monday mornings.

I've had upswings that big, but never that fast (of course, I'm only talking about 115 hours of tracked play). Props are in order I believe.

115 hrs is nothing.

i've played 300 this year (approx, maybe a lil more) and thats still only like 9000 total hands played.

the wins are nice but the winrate is relatively meaningless imo. still, goals are goals and I'm still gonna move up at 500 BB/level.

have you set a bar for you to attain before moving up?

I'm aware that 115 hours is little more than noise, but I have nothing more to draw from. My goal for the next few months is to keep playing 3 to 5 times a week and making maybe 500 a month.

I'm going to take a shot at 15/30 when my bankroll hits 6000, at least that's my current plan. The whole bankroll thing is a little odd for me, as I do have a full time job and all. I guess what I'm saying is that if I go busto, nobody's going hungry...or even really missing a meal.

Is 500 BBs pretty much the industry standard around here before one decides to move up or do others have like 300 BBs as theirs? 500 sounds like a solid
# of BBs before moving up to the next limit to moi

i think its too conservative. im a nit.

As Bob T. pointed out in his well, 300 BB won at each level seems fine.

I must be the odd man here. Ever since I made my first hop from 3/6 to 4/8 (and I still grin about how scared I was to do it) I've enjoyed occasionally playing at a higher limit for a session or two once a month. My regular game is 9/18, but I've played a half dozen sessions at the 20/40, and when I'm in the right casino the 15/30 is my favorite game.

I've found that playing at a limit above my comfort level really helps my game at my regular tables. I learn from watching better players, grasp concepts that don't make as much sense at lower limits, and gained confidence that I wouldn't have had otherwise.

I aspire to sit 20/40 as my normal table sometime early next year, but without testing the waters I think I'd be much further away.
