I've been playing for a year (almost every day) and I'm up to 2/4 dabbling at 3/6 online (I play a higher level in B&M). I'm hoping to make it to 10/20 online within 1.5 more years. So, I guess if you're ok like me (I think I'm probably an average player at best), it'll take close to 3 years. If you are good, I'm sure it'll be less than that (maybe one year?).

Bout a year. But then things will go really bad and you'll have to move back down. Enjoy.

Everyone will have a different answer to this question. For a decent player, how fast you move up depends on many things, including:
[list][*]How risk averse are you? ie. How many BBs are you comfortable with playing at each limit.[*]How often do you have to dip into your bankroll for things other than poker?

There are so many more...

Maybe this question should be answered in # of hands played.

For the vast majority of players, the answer is likely to be 'forever'.

I have been playing for about 2 years, play OK, beat 2/4, do OK at 3/6 - and fully expect to never get to 10/20.
