Re: MN Limit Players
I used to play at Canterbury all the time but playing limit just got old. I tend to travel to WI and IA now for some NL action and H.O.S.E, PLO, O8, Stud and Stud8 games at various casinos. I'd have to agree that there are a lot of great limit players in MN, but a lot are also one trick ponies that can only play one game. My two cents....

Re: MN Limit Players
I read the forums here all the time and I decided that I'll finally post some. Any of you guys play on the Heartland Poker Tour or any local tournies at the casinos? I might play in a few events at the Fall Classic at Canterbury, but I usually don't because I don't like some of their tourney structures. Thanks for the welcome.

Re: MN Limit Players
Which of the Commerce 1/2 or white chip hold'em regulars are from MN? I've seen a group (2 with a friend or two sweating) of caucasian mid 20s once a while in the 1/2 and maybe 2/4 games - is that them? If it's who I think they are - they are certainly friendly, but did not impress. Probably as big of a donkey as I am : )

Re: MN Limit Players
I'm originally from northern Iowa so if I go down there to play I have a place to stay....and if I go to western WI I usually stay for atleast 24 hours at the tables. Sure online is fine, but I'd rather get out there and interact with others. As for the Fall Classic, I do not believe a cap has been set in any of the tournies thus far. Best thing to do would be to go out there on the 10th and register for the ones you want to play in. I know there will be some tournies starting at noon and others at 7 pm and that could limit the number of entries into those fields but I highly doubt it. All I know is that it's not worth waiting in line out there to sign up, it's a mess and you have everyone lined up by the cage with you.

Re: MN Limit Players
Yeah the most obvious answer to the OP's question is Limit is all we have so we get good at it.
But really Canterbury is funny because you see some regulars there that are very good players but there are also some idiots that are the worst players I have ever seen. Limping with Q,4s from early pos, not raising preflop with KK, cold calling an EP raise with K,Toff lots of stuff like this. To me the key there is finding the tables with the latter type players and table changing away from the tables with many known regulars and good players. Most of the tables there are extremely Loose/Passive so if you ever want to see what kind of games SSHE talks about CP is the place. Study that book and chose your tables wisely and you should win monies on your visit to CP. |

Re: MN Limit Players
I play are Prarie Meadows every once in awhile, but also have played in Tamah a few times for tournies. I mostly play at Diamond Jo's in Lake Mills, they will spread almost any game you want there as long as they can get some players. Some friends and I used to play over in Sommerset at the bars, they'd have weekly tournies for cheap and after we'd get some 1/2 cash games going. But for WI casinos, it's mostly Turtle Lake. They're kind of super aggressive donks up there, all regulars so everyone knows eachother. The 2/5 and 5/10 game can get juicy up there. I just really dislike Canterbury now, people play like such tilt monkies and I can't stand it. 3 and 4 bet preflop with junk, it just gets old. I don't play many tournies out there because of the structure, but I will play in 4 events out at the Fall Classic, hopefully.
