2007 Goals and Expectations

Goes hand in hand with the 2006 Year in Review I guess.

My Goals:

1) Average 30 hours a week of play.

I think this is where I slacked the most this year and I'd like to focus on being more consistant in how much I play.

2) Play in two major live tournaments.

I've got this halfway done as I'm in the PCA. WSOP ME will be my other main focus.

3) Move up to 10/20 NL by the end of the year

I'm currently at 1/2 and 2/4 but I was playing about 50/50 cash and tourneys this year. I think 2007 that will probably move to 75/25 or even as big as 90/10 (cash/tourneys).

4) Net 250k

I feel if I put the hours I need to in this goal is pretty reachable. As long as poker continues to flurish in 2007.

5) Continue to play my best game at all times.

This is the last but probably the most important. This includes not tilting, concentrating while playing, and continueing to study and improve my game.


So let the goals fly. Whether it's winning your first tournament, making your first FT, hitting a certain monetary goal, or just improving your game and filling your leaks.

My goal is to become competent at cash games. I'd settle for being a winning player at 5/10, 10/20 would be cool, I have no expectations for anything higher than that, since I probably won't be putting in a ton of hours like I did last year.

I made out my 2007 goals yesterday and I wasn't going to post them b/c I didn't want to come off like a bragger / hot shot / whatever, but after seeing some of the other goals it seems like my goals are pretty much in line with other's-

1. Net 200K before taxes
2. Play in 2 live 10Ks
3. Top 10 in 2007 IPOY Rankings
4. Play-in 4+ WSOP Events
5. Learn NL Cash and be +EV at 5/10 by EOY
6. Play 4000 NL Cash hands/week
7. Make working a real life job optional in 2008
8. Read 1 new poker book every 2 months

2) Be worth 250k by Dec 1 so that my brother + mom have to pay me $100 each. (Anyone wanna lend me $250k?)
3) Get something published in a math journal.
