This poll is for Christians who are sure there is a life after death and that they will be going to either heaven or hell after die here on earth.

I'm curious about how other Christians think about this. Back when I was a believer, I lived a pretty scary existence. Even though I was pretty sure I was a relatively good person who pleased God, I definitely had moments of uncertainty. Of course, I sinned and wasn't willing to devote my entire life to living like Jesus or a complete goody two-shoes.
When I realized there wasn't any such thing as gods, the world became a much more rational and stable place. I found the issue of heaven and hell to be the 2nd biggest comfort in shedding my belief. The biggest comfort of course, was that I now understood why 12 year olds die of cancer and why other terrible things happen to the best of people. In other words, I could stop blaming the God I loved and worshipped for such things. A very big relief. |

You phrased this question as if only worthy people who are good go to heaven. This is very different from what I was taught and what I believe (two different things BTW).

I listened to this and actually thought it was quite good. Even though I wasn't exactly sure of what the moral was supposed to be.

Yes. Specifically I believe that no one is worthy of heaven, yet people will go there. [/ QUOTE ] What the heck was the point of God creating billions of unworthy people? Would an all-knowing all-powerful entity who transcends space and time really pursue such an endeavor? Seems kind of petty and silly. no? |

I know that people often do petty and silly things with their limited resources. I suspect that if they were given unlimited resources they would contiune to do petty and silly things. Maybe God is the same way. Or maybe, from God's perspective, it's not as petty and silly as you think. |
