The only reason to check is if the button will push AK or something. You don't have enough money left to bet/fold so just shove. Also with the stacksizes you definitely should have just potted the flop, you'd have less than 1/2 a pot sized bet left on the turn and would get called by far more than just QT, JJ or 44.

He probably doesn't have a set because there are only 2 Jacks left in the deck, 44 is unlikely in re-raised pot, and he probably shoves the flop with a set anyway. AAxx or a big draw seem likely. I like a check-fold. He might not bet the turn anyway.

He shoves the flop with 44 but he smoothcalls with AA preflop?

Checking folding this turn getting 2.8:1 on a push would be absolutely one of the dumbest things you can do unless he can never have anything but QT when he calls the flop.

You think he's going to bluff off his stack here every time when you check?

Plus what do you think his range is?

No which is why you don't check. You're betting for value. Unless he is the nittiest player around you can't ever check fold in this spot because he either has to fold everything but QT or it has to be like 80% of his range.

He doesn't have AA, QT is certainly legit, but i'm not folding if he bets, so I might as well bet myself.
As others stated, preflop is spew.

And he calls with...?

[/ QUOTE ]But again, what is his range if he shoves? If you think it's a bluff >20% of the time, this is a great reason to check.

Preflop may be a mistake but it is far from a spew.

There is a lot more value in checking and calling rather than just open pushing the river. If he calls, you're beat.
