FTP 24+2, 6 max, how\'s my button shove with 44 ???
Thanks for your thoughts on this bust out hand:
It's a KO tourney (kinda fun BTW) $4 to the knock out fund and 20 to the MTT. Blinds are 100/200, 6 max tables, I have 5,000 chips and we all have about the same stack. There had been lots of 3XBB raises by all of us usually winning the blinds. My hand: UTG limps, folds to me on the button with 44, I push. Blinds fold and UTG takes all his time to call with AKo, he rivers an ace. F the results, was my push OK here? I still had 25 BB. The level was about to jump up. Average stack was about 6200 at this time, was 223 left out of 831 with top 104 paid. I'm thinking we were both 100% correct in our plays. Any ante?
IMO the overbet push is fine in this situation. Raising or limping is OK too. The push simplifies things if you don't play well postflop. Your opponents aren't going to call with higher pps that often, and it is actually pretty cEV+ if you get called by a big ace or something. If you raise or limp, you need a plan to handle getting raised. You actually have close decisions in that case. I would generally call a reraise if I raised. |

If they both fold you have 5500 chips if you fold you have 5000 chips. Otherwise you are 50-50 at BEST. I fold here since not only do you have to hit a set to get paid off but an opponet has to hit a good hand too otherwise he wont call big bets. Its going to be hard to get your implied odds here but a limp isnt terrible. Youre not that far back from the avg anyway and hopefully you dont feel like you have to push into bad situations just to have an avg stack.

Thanks for all replys!
No antes. I felt pretty strong if I limped along with UTG the big blind would have punished us both by a raise to 900 to 1200. A fold for me for sure now. I was getting killed earlier post flop. Was up to 8K. A limp to set mine may have been a good move too. Yeah.....25 BB.....my second attempt at the 6 max MTT. Lots of action! Lots of fun! Thanks again everyone |

People make hero calls in this tourney more than often. Knockouts are just like that... people don't realize how their equity in the tournament is much more in important than $4. That said, I really hate pushing this spot. I would probably 3x here, limping seems fine too as long as you think you will get paid off.
