if you call turn, i think you should be calling river a lot. but you need a very good read on villain to do that. standard play is to just fold turn.

Bet the flop, fold to a c/r.

As played on the flop, check behind on the turn and take another free card. Fold to the c/r on the turn.

Fold the river.

bet/folding the flop seems fine, i dont mind checking either

i agree that once you check the flop though, checking the turn seems prudent and like a good option. you basically always get to showdown when this happens which was your goal on the flop.
