Re: rethinking a standard bet spot
This is a spot where I almost always bet, but without really thinking through why. I think I still like a bet after some thinking. You have three types of hands you typically might get action from here (barring outright bluffs). Two hearts, Ax and two pair and better. Betting is probably better against two hearts as you might get it all in on the flop with him drawing virtually dead. Against two pair and better, I guess checking might be optimal as you have little FE by B3B and might as well try to see a relatively cheap turn, but you still have decent equity if it all goes in on the flop. I think my main concern in the hand, would be to maximize FE against Ax hands and I think you do that by B3B flop if raised. If called, there aren't that many hands that can stand a second barrel on the turn even if it's a blank.

Re: rethinking a standard bet spot
I like a check here.Better aces aren't folding and PP aren't calling.I am also not gonna get away from the hand, so if someone check/raises, i will push and will likely have flush outs only.
Checking might induce a Q or PP to bet the turn (although, this is more suitable if you are HU postflop) as well. I bet this sometimes, if my image is loose and i will be payed off if flush hits, so i'd like to build a pot.In most cases, unless you are up against smaller flush and the pot is small, you are really not gonna be payed off here. |

Re: rethinking a standard bet spot
[ QUOTE ]
We may occasionally bluff off a better ace that raises, but the board being what it is, semibluffs are more in our range, so we may be called lighter. [/ QUOTE ] This seems like the best reason to play our hand fast. Our hand is basically a semi-bluff if we're getting callers, but one with a ton of outs. If you bet the flop, you can credibly represent QQ/AA/AK/AQ later, although it's a double edged sword as they might get away from their hand when you hit. Against bad players, I'd be more likely to check as they can make some really goofy calldowns later because of it. If it's a close decision, though, when in doubt get the $ in when we have such a big equity advantage. |

Re: rethinking a standard bet spot
This should be a very standard check for the reasons mentioned most of the time. I would need a history/ table dynamics reason to bet here.

Re: rethinking a standard bet spot
If button is an aggro player who will bet at this pot iof checked to then i would go for a big cr, otherwise and the what i would do 80% of the time is to bet it out as a standard cbet, also to protect my future cbets.

Re: rethinking a standard bet spot
Where I play, I like a bet because they seem to call with random gutters and Q's looking to make a big hand.
I soetimes check if theres a tough player in the crowd. |

The more likely I am to get called by a Q here, the more I like a bet. The more agro button is, the more I like a check. Vs unknowns, I check this a lot. [/ QUOTE ] |
