AFAIK, there is no pecking order. If your home market team is playing, you get them. If not, you get the national game.

The home market for south jersey is the Eagles. The home market for north jersey is the Giants.

Really? So DAL/MIN was the national game last week?

When I made that post I was just thinking 'NJ is getting the Eagles?' and I had completely forgotten that the game they were getting instead was the Giants.
I'm an idiot.

But for Iowa I'm definitely surprised. A lot of the that area follows the Twins and Vikings and I would have thought the Vikings game would have been considered 'local' for them.

Odd, though, that game 5 is directly against Monday Night Football.

I'm pretty sure SNF doesn't come on at least once a year for whatever random reason.

Well, this is only the 2nd year that it's been the marquee evening game for the NFL. But I think you might be correct that ESPN didn't have SNF during one week either during their reign.

FWIW - I'm pretty sure MNF on ESPN or back in their ABC days wouldn't have a game during the last week of the season because that would be too close to some teams' Saturday playoff games.
So it evens out somewhat that SNF and MNF both have the same amount of games.

Yep. There hasn't been a Week 17 Monday Night game since 2002 (and there won't be one this year either).
