I love conspiracy theories as much as the next guy. But two home games out of two is just variance.

Check the last few years as well, it's very common for them to be drawn at home.

Question from a new fan of English soccer: I realize that the Carling Cup is of minimal importance to most soccer fans (probably akin to winning the NIT in college basketball?)

How important is the FA Cup? IOW, if Arsenal (for example) were to win the FA Cup, but finish only 3rd or 4th in the EPL, how happy would you Arsenal fans be?

BTW, here's the draw for the fifth round:

1 Chelsea v Blackpool or Norwich

2 Watford v Ipswich

3 Preston v Manchester City

4 Plymouth v Derby County

5 Manchester United v Reading

6 Arsenal or Bolton v Blackburn Rovers

7 Bristol City or Middlesbrough v West Brom

8 Fulham v Tottenham Hotspur

gus, a lot of aresenal fans would still be very happy, at least the fans taht have been fans for a while. The FA Cup means a lot and many highlights from it still get played years on. Many of the best games in a season happen in the FA Cup too. Those that are english go to bed at night as young boys dreaming of winning the FA Cup, kind of like how us in the US dream of winning the super bowl or World Series

that would mean the FA Cup is the most important competition for a club, which really isn't true

At what point will Chelsea actually face a real team?

When's Arsenal/Bolton replay? Go Bolton.

Depends alot on the Club. Technicaly any football club in Britain could win the FA cup, but only 3-4 of them could win the CL. Obviously if you are in the CL the CL is more important.

I think if I was say a supporter of a team in the UEFA cup I would rather win the FA cup.
