Default A-K - decision on River

The only read I had was that the player struck me as loose - he had just recently joined the table. His line makes no sense to me - Just didn't know what to do on the river !

you made your hand fairly transparent given flop/turn action, and his bet seems like its trying to get you to pay him off with your AQ/AK, which he wont expect you to fold. so i fold and feel ok about it

Standard play pf. I like a continuation stab on the flop after he checks, hes showing weakness after limping pf. If he calls a bet your probably behind most of the time. If he checks again on the turn you have a weird spot hitting the ace. In this type of situation are you looking to play a medium sized pot or large pot? Depending on how confident you are in your hand I would base some of your action off that. When I first looked at this hand his line didn't make since but if I were to put him on a range it would be J10, 77, and the least likely 55. In any case a fold isn't bad here with one pair.

Looks to me that villain has a set here. First he just limps, calls the raise pre-flop. He checks the flop and turn, hoping for some action, and the river he bets out while the river is a blank. See this line quite often when villain has a set.

You are pretty much hoping he has AQ and thats it. He overbet the river, and when someone checks two streets and then donks with an overbet, its usually better than one pair.
