Default Interesting: Sucker End of Straight

Am I ahead of most of his range?

$0.50/$1 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $115.30
Hero (BB): $139.25
UTG: $174.15
CO: $80.40
BTN: $137.40

Preflop: Hero is dealt 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 Players)
UTG folds, CO calls $1.00, BTN folds, SB calls $0.50, Hero checks

Flop: ($3) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 Players)
SB bets $1.00, Hero raises to $4.00, CO calls $4.00, SB calls $3.00

Turn: ($15) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 Players)
SB checks, Hero checks, CO bets $12.00, SB folds, Hero calls $12.00

Pot Size: $39.00

Is checking calling this turn right? How would you play this?

Raise more on the flop and bet the turn. What are you waiting for?

If someone has K9 or AK (unlikely due to pf action) you just take it like a man.

What kind of question is that, "is checking this turn right"? Why don't you tell us your thought process and what led you to check the turn? If you just look for people to tell you whether X is right or wrong you will never improve. You have to use your own logic and deduction and as time goes on refine your thought processes and figure out how you can do better.

Personally, I don't like the turn check. You have no reason to believe you're behind at this point (K9 is the only real hand you're losing to), and your hand is very strong and yet very vulnerable. I can't think of a better situation for betting. Having checked the turn, I'd check-raise and try to get all-in. He will probably stack off with two-pair here, and you have the (effective) second nuts. I'm discounting AK of course given PF...

This was my friends hand. He tells me his thought process was "I simply wondered if my straight was even good at that point, so I chose to take the back route and figured if he was bluffing or had a pair, I was going to get more money. I didn't think my hand was any good at that point." Any advise to this comment?

For the record I bet turn / shove river. I posted this becausee we are arguing about the hand, I think it was misplayed, so I wanted other opinions.

Your friend flopped a straight. So he should bet it.
Only AK / K9 beats us and these hands are not realistic. So bet bet bet to getvalue out of TP or two pair.

If I ever play a hand retarded I'm blaming my friend too.

You want to get this all in. Best way is to bet it down.

For the record it was my hand. Normally I don't flop a straight and go limp once cold called.. but I felt I got a "timing" tell. I'm not normally such a pussy. My main question is what do you do when you lead out the turn again, and got raised? Are you laying down putting him on the better flopped straight? For whatever reason, my self professed psychic ability, I check called and the guy had K9. Maybe it was a fluke luck read. Do most of you play averages only or do you ever try to pin point hands for recreation? That was the main case of the argument

[/ QUOTE ]Then we push. He can do that with two pair and a set. We can't just flatcall because, ne need to protect against FH outs and and A or a K.

flop raise size is fine IMO, but I'd def fire on the turn and continue the river. If he has K9 or AK, well, nh.
