10NL KK, LAGGY opponent, Easy fold or raise
Was sitting at the table for a while. Villain is very aggressive, likes to pump out bets on each street. At the time of the hand I hadn't seen many showdowns from him. His numbers were like 42/12/3.25 On several of the hands that did make it to the Showdown he had been caught stealing. This is the first time I have posted a hand in over 6 months. The goal is to get better. So I need your thoughts on this hand.

Flop bet is awful. make a real bet. As played you have to fold the river.

Re: 10NL KK, LAGGY opponent, Easy fold or raise
I think the river is a hard decision given you read and how the action went. However, I don't think that is the lesson to be learned in this hand. The real lesson is the rest of the play.
Firstly, if UTG+1 is likely to call your raise then you can probably raise quite a bit more. I think at .60-1 is a good range to fall in. I would probably go for .70. If he calls this raise you can safely commit. The flop is a pretty good flop for you and your SPR is low enough that you can commit on non scare cards. I think you should bet at lest 2/3's of the pot. I think a good bet here would be like 1.5. If you do this much the entire hand plays out differently. If you bet 1.5 on the flop the turn pot is 4.65 with 13 behind. The turn isn't that much fun as top pair is a decent part of his range. I would think that his hand is more likely to be a draw than a top pair as I think he probably would have bet top-pair more than he would bet a draw. So, I continue betting the turn for about $3 and plan on checking a brick river for him to bluff. |

Re: 10NL KK, LAGGY opponent, Easy fold or raise
You gave him plenty of room to bluff because of your weak river bet. Now, pick it off, and definitely bet more next time.
If you bet 1.20 on the flop, now yo can bet 6 on the turn, and villian is left with seven behind making it a bad play with a flush draw. As is, I call and take down pot. Kick myself for bad planning if I lose. |
