Etiquette of changing seats

Hi all,

A question that doesn't come up in MTT: Is there anything wrong with changing seats at a table to get position on a particular player?

The situation was that I was seated two to the right of a calling station (52/2/0.3). I was obviously happy to have him at the table, but not exactly there, because he consistently called my 4X blind steal attempts. Fine when I had something, but it prevented me from raising marginal hands from the button. Well, a seat immediately to his left opened up, with two much tighter players to the left of that seat.

Would it have been OK to change seats?

If its +EV or more +EV do it. Dont worry about etiqutte or offending anyone, most players in B&M cardrooms are [censored] pricks anyway.

Its fine. If anyone questions it, mumble some superstitious nonsense. I was playing live not too long ago and one player got up to move to the open seat to my right, and another player says "What are you doing" and the idiot now sitting to my right went into a long strategic speech concerning position, wanting to be behind me, so he will know what I'm going to do, etc.

In my game people change seats so often there is usually a list.

There are lots of reasons to change seats, end seats give a better view of all the players, players generally don't like to be in seat 1 or 9 because the dealer blocks their view, sitting next to a friend, sitting to get a better view of the TV, moving to get the railbirds off your back, moving just for luck, and of course strategic position on players/stacks. I often try and analyze a seat move and can often make no sense of it.

Edit: BTW, when a good player makes a move that makes sense, I will expect his/her play to change accordingly. Also when a new player I don't know enters the game with more than one seat open and they scan the stacks/players before choosing a seat, I expect better play from them.
